Marie Guffey, 100

Marie Guffey, 100, of Cliffside passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2019.

She was born December 24, 1918 in Spartanburg, SC. She was the foster daughter of George and Hessie Waters of Cliffside.

In addition to her foster parents she was preceded in death by her husband Braxton Guffey, two sons James and Steve, a foster brother Kenneth McMahan, one daughter-in-law Anne Humphries Guffey and a grandson Todd Guffey.

Left to cherish her memory are a son Mickey Guffey and wife Janice; one sister Beatrice Smith of Morganton; a daughter-in-law Patricia Guffey of New Jersey; 7 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 22 great-great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-great grandchild.

She was laid to rest at Cleveland Memorial Park Cemetery in Shelby, NC following the service.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made to Cliffside Baptist Church PO Box 336 Cliffside, NC 28024
