Marjorie Kay Ellis, age 78, passed away January 11, 2025, in Lincoln County, NC.

Born September 3, 1946, Kay dedicated many years to the textile industry and later cherished her time at Huntersville Baptist Daycare.

Kay was a member of Southern Baptist Church in Rutherfordton early in her life where her faith played a significant role and continued throughout her life.

She is survived by her sister, Martha Hunt of Rutherfordton; sons, Tim Burns (Jennifer) of Stanley and Tyler Burns (Nicole) of Iron Station; granddaughters, Micah Jones, Jordan Burns, Aubrey Burns & Katie Burns; grandsons, Tanner Burns, Landon Burns, and Garrett Burns; and great-grandchildren, Beau, Alexandra, Hayden, and Cameron Jones as well as her sister-in-law Darlene Ellis of Clover, SC.

Kay was preceded in death by her father, Ransom C. Flynn, mother, Bertha Flynn, brother, Jimmy Lee Flynn, and husband, David Boyd Ellis.

A receiving of friends and family is scheduled for 2pm, followed by a memorial service at 3pm January 16 at Southern Baptist Church, 140 Church St., Rutherfordton, NC 28139.

Any contributions in memorial may be made to Southern Baptist Church in Rutherfordton or any local Hospice organization.
