Mary Biggerstaff Robbins, age 83 of Forest City passed away September 12, 2019.

She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Winifred Early Biggerstaff, born on October 2, 1935 in the Washburn Community of Rutherford County. She retired from Rutherford County Senior Center, serving many years as the manager of the Ellenboro meal site.

Mary grew up on the Biggerstaff family farm off Freewill Baptist Church Road where she learned the love of God, family and community. She loved nature and was an avid gardener who enjoyed growing flowers and vegetables. She attended Ellenboro School where she met the love of her life, Thomas "Tommie" Robbins. They were married in July 1953 and spent over 50 years together until Tommie's death in 2009.

Mary was a member of Race Path Baptist Church. She loved her church and her church family dearly. She spent over 50 years volunteering her time and talents to the Race Path and Six Points Community. Mary was a wonderful cook and took joy in serving her family and friends for many years. She had a true love for life and showed it every day.

In addition to her husband Tommie and her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Robbins, her sister, Dot Bridges, and two brothers, C. D. Biggerstaff and John Biggerstaff.

Left to cherish her memory is her beloved twin sister, Margaret Bartlett of Bostic, son Tony Robbins, his wife Leah. Daughter Sonja Robbins Hooper, husband Jimmy. Also, two granddaughters, and one grandson.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Race Path Baptist Church Buildings and Grounds fund or to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in her memory.

The funeral service was held in the Race Path Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

The Padgett & King Mortuary is serving the family.
