Mary Elizabeth Givens, age 93, of Bostic, passed away Monday, August 6, 2018.

Born December 28, 1924 in Rutherford County, she was the daughter of Paul and Dora Carpenter. She was a member of Florence Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Briscoe John "BJ" Givens; and four sisters, Lois Elmore, Louise Holland, Dorothy James, and Patricia Randall.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, John Givens and wife, Barbara; daughter, Faith Avalos and husband, Jerry; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

The funeral service was conducted at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Robin Caldwell officiated. A private interment was held at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
