Master Sgt. Steven Duane Brooks, USAF, Retired, age 76

Master Sgt. Steven Duane Brooks, USAF, Retired, age 76 of Union Mills died April 3, 2022.

He was born July 13, 1945, in Cleveland County and was a son of the late Matt Brooks and Inez Murray Brooks. Duane was a retired Master Sergeant in the US Air Force where he served for 22 years. He served honorably during the Vietnam War where he received numerous citations and commendations for meritorious service and bravery.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Allen Ray Brooks in 2021.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Annie Brooks of the home, son, Kevin Brooks of Union Mills, daughter, Angela Brooks of Sumter, SC, his sister, Gerri Brooks Day of Virginia, three grandchildren, two nephews, one niece.

A service from the graveside with military honors was held at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery April 9 with Rev. Dr. Tony McCraw.
