Melvin Alonzo Carver, Jr, 88

Melvin Alonzo Carver, Jr, 88, formerly of Harris, passed away Wednesday March 21, 2012. 

Memorial services were held at Crowe Funeral Home.

A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Melvin Alonzo Carver Sr. and Maggie Regenta Sansing Carver. He was a retired construction contractor and a US Army veteran of WWII. He is survived by his sons, Joseph Lee Carver and wife Jeannie of Myrtle Beach, SC and Jack Gordon Carver of Boone; one brother Phillip Carver of Rutherfordton; grandchildren Christopher Robert Williams, Joshua Carver, Faith Greene, Hunter Carver and Savannah Carver. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Joyce Toney Carver and son Lonnie Carver. 

Military honors will be provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
