Michael Bruce Lawing, age 74, beloved husband of Yvonne Marsee Lawing passed away Monday, August 14, 2023.

Mike was a native of Rutherford County and the son of the late Lloyd and Correne Jones Lawing. He served his country in the 5th Army during the Vietnam War. He received the national defense medal, Vietnam Service medal with 2 bronze stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army commendation medal and Bronze Star.

Mike's career included employment at Isothermal Community College where he worked with the prison department to gain GED's for inmates. He also worked as an exterminator and in the printing industry and numerous other jobs.

He ministered through the Church of the Exceptional through his music and as a member of the board of directors; also volunteering with Hospice of the Carolina Foothills and Rutherford Life Services.

In addition to his wife Yvonne; he left to cherish his memory, his son Scott Dwayne (Jessica) Hardin and one grandson.

A celebration of Mike's life was held August 17 at Crowe's Funeral Chapel with Pastor Travis Smith officiating. Military honors were provided by the Rutherford County Veterans Honor Guard.
