The statue of the mill worker unveiled during the Spindale Centennial Block Party is a popular place for pictures. Some people have suggested giving a name to the statue. Linda Jeanne Harrill, who brought the idea of the statue to the town's centennial committee and spearheaded the fund raising effort for the statue, wrote the following reply to those asking about a name for the gentleman.

"Thank you to all those who purchased the Official Spindale Tee Shirt in support of the town's statue. A few people stated they don't wear tee shirts but wanted to participate in its fundraiser. The statue is named The Textile Worker, and a plaque will explain its significance in the near future. It is not to be given a person's name in the effort to be a symbol of all workers that labored in the mills over the years. Naming him would give a personal identity, and it is meant to symbolize all. It is hoped a female statue will be added at a later time." Linda Jeanne Harrill
