Mitchell “Mickey” Stanley, age 59

Mitchell “Mickey” Stanley, age 59, of Forest City, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015. Born April 11, 1955 in Roanoke, Virginia, he was a son of the late Harry Richard Stanley, Sr. and Anna Marie Tolley Stanley. Mitchell was a graduate of James River High School, class of 1973 and worked for Cone Mills-Florence Plant for many years. He was also employed by Boyd-Lutz Landscaping for several years. Mitchell was a gifted musician and enjoyed writing songs and poetry. He loved his family dearly and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William Roy Stanley, Joseph Stanley and one sister, Mildred Stanley. Survivors include his loving wife of forty-three years, Virgie “Anna” Stanley; two sons, Adam Stanley of Chesnee and David Stanley of Mooresboro; one daughter, Jenny Wheeler and husband, Tory of Forest City; brother, Harry Richard Stanley, Jr. and wife, Viola and sister, Margie Sheppard all of Roanoke. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Kelsey Marie Stanley, Austin Michael Stanley, Kaley Reanee Stanley, Brianna Paige Stanley, David Riley Stanley, Morgan Faith Wheeler, Hayden Scott Wheeler, Makenna Alyse Wheeler and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Eddie Russell officiating. Interment followed in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family.
