Mr. Claude Worth Brooks, 89, of Ellenboro, NC, passed away Thursday, November 11,  2010. Services were held at Campfield Memorial Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery with Military Honors by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.

Mr. Brooks served our country in the U.S. Army, during World War II and was the recipient of The Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Griffin Brooks; his parents, Bryan Buford and Surfronia Campfield Brooks; 3 brothers, Rev. Graham Brooks, J.B. Brooks, and Harold Brooks; and 1 sister, Louise Teseneer.

He is survived by 1 son, David Brooks and wife Kay of Bostic; 1 daughter, Karen Jones and husband Steve of Boiling Springs; 1 brother, John Brooks of Ellenboro; 2 sisters, Mary Lee Costner of Forest City, and Eugenia Dotson of West Virginia; 6 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Hospice of Rutherford County, P.O. Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043; or to: Campfield Memorial Baptist Church, 369 Campfield Church Rd., Ellenboro, NC 28040.

McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home, Cliffside, NC is serving the family.
