Mr. Richard Lionel Jefferson, 78, of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2011. A memorial service was held at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness.

Mr. Jefferson was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Mabel Jefferson; his parents, Charles Edward and Hazel Brooks Jefferson and his daughter, Sherry Hagen.

He is survived by his daughters, Deborah Cogan and Cheryl Doorley of Rutherfordton; Denise Skelton of Seattle, WA; one sister, Delores Rouse of CA; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Suite 800, Washington, DC 20004.
