Mr. Thomas Lawson “Tom” Moss, 86, of Shelby, NC, passed away Friday, July 30, 2010. Services were held at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. Burial followed in State Line Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Moss served our country in the U.S. Army, serving in the Artillery at the Battle of the Bulge during WWII.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Langdon Moss and Katherine McSwain Moss; 1 son, Thomas L. (Tommy) Moss; 1 daughter-in-law, Mary Moss; 1 son-in-law, J.L. Morehead, Jr.; 1 brother, Leland “Cotton” Moss; and 3 sisters, Elva Moss Blanton, Hilda Moss Webster, and Ruby “Jackie” Moss Hendrick.

He is survived by is wife of 65 years, Mae Scruggs Moss of the home; 1 daughter, Janice Moss Morehead of Shelby; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandsons; 2 brothers, James “Puzzie” Moss of Shelby, and Marcus “Dern” Moss of Cherryville; and 1 sister, Mrs. Mary Moss Freeman “Mickey” of Earl, NC.

McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home, Cliffside, NC is serving the family.
