Mrs. Alpha Mae Hawkins, 97, formerly of Rutherford County, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2010. Services were held at Harrelson Funeral Home Chapel, Cliffside, NC. Burial followed in High Shoal Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Hawkins was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Joe D. Hawkins; her parents, Ben Tillman Lowery and Effie Putman Lowery; and 4 brothers, Hoyle Lowery, Furman Lowery, Gene Lowery and Hollis Lowery.
She is survived by 2 sons, Garth Hawkins and wife Barbara of Kings Mountain, and Leon Hawkins and wife Carolyn of Garden City, SC; 1 sister, Mary Humphries of Sandy Mush; 3 grandsons; and 6 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Henrietta First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 265, Henrietta, NC 28076; or to the charity of choice.
