Mrs. Crystal Kay Godfrey Scism, "Chris" age 63 of Sportsman Lane passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018.

A native of Rutherford County, Chris was a nurse working in various areas of health care in the area. She attended Piney Knob Baptist Church and Glenwood Baptist Church where she was active in youth ministries where she wrote and produced a number of plays.

She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Phil Scism of the home, one son Johnny Scism, one daughter Gidget Hardin, four grandchildren, one brother Billy Godfrey and wife Debbie, two sisters Cindy Yelton and husband Jerry, Lynn McCurry and husband Ricky. Chris is also survived by a number of other relatives, friends and Sasha the family dog.

She was preceded in death by her parents Billy Leroy Godfrey and Nellie Mae Emory Godfrey and a son-in-law Keith Hardin.

A celebration of life was held at Crowe's Funeral Chapel, Rutherfordton. Rev. Bob Philbeck officiated.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, P.O. Box 336 Forest City NC 28043.

Crowe's Mortuary is assisting the family.
