Mrs. Janice Carpenter Miller, 73, of Green Creek, began eternal life Saturday December 10, 2016.
Mrs. Miller, born November 24, 1943, loved her family especially spending time at ballgames watching her grandchildren. She was the daughter of the late Tillie Carpenter and Napoleon Carpenter. She was a graduate of Carver High School and Livingstone College, and was a retired teacher of the Rutherford County School system. She was a proud member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) Sorority, the Busy Matrons Leisure Hour Club (BMLH), a Sunday school teacher and member of the Missionary Society at Zion Grove A.M.E Zion Church, and mentor to many in the community.
She is survived by her husband, George Miller, Jr.; daughter Tarah Simmons and husband Aaron, son George Miller, III (Trey) and wife Stephanie; one brother Napoleon Carpenter, Jr.; four grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service was held at Zion Grove A.M.E. Zion Church with Pastor Patricia Gainer officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Hospice of Rutherford County.
