Patriot Shoot raises money for ICC Foundation

The team from Blue Ridge Excavating of Bostic took first place in the third annual Patriot Shoot to benefit the Isothermal Community College Foundation at Cleghorn Gun Club earlier in November.

The third annual Patriot Shoot was held in November to raise money for the Isothermal Community College Foundation.

The sporting clays event was held at the Cleghorn Gun Club, a world-class venue located on Union Road in Rutherfordton and owned by Tryon Resorts.

Sixteen teams participated in the event, which raised more than $13,000 for the Isothermal Community College Foundation. The organization provides financial supports to programs of the college.

The winning team was Blue Ridge Excavating of Bostic. Riverstone Business Park took second place.

The top individual shooter was Tim Davis with James Cowan in second place.

Gold sponsors were Cleghorn Gun Club, Atlanta Consulting Group, RHI Legacy Foundation, Duke Energy, Main Street Insurance Group/Keystone, RiverStone Business Park, Blue Ridge Excavating, Beam Construction, Ultimate Textiles, Harris Home Care and Anderson, Smith and Wike, PLLC.

For the first year, there was a challenge between teams representing local law enforcement officers and firefighters. A trophy, which will be awarded each year, will be kept in the Isothermal Emergency Services training area. The winner of the inaugural Isothermal Emergency Services Cup was the Firefighter Team.

Organizers deemed the event a success and are already planning next year's shoot.
