Peggie Price Summey, age 86 of Alexander Mills, passed away Monday, October 31, 2016.

She was born August 15, 1930 in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late Francis and Sarah Ida Pugh Price. Peggie retired from the shipping department at Broyhill Furniture and was a member of Alexander UMC. She was also active in the Girl Scouts of America for sixty years and was instrumental in acquiring the property for the Girl Scout Camp and Golden Valley. She was given one of scouting's most prestigious awards, The Thanks Award for adult volunteers. Her husband, Charles R. Summey preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Chuck Summey and wife Leeann of Forest City, Tony Summey and wife Debbie of Stanley, NC, and daughter, Adrian Cato and her husband Allen of Hillsborough, NC. There are also five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held in The Padgett and King Chapel with Reverend Wesley K. Judy officiating. Interment followed in the Cool Springs Cemetery. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Henderson Care Center, Rutherford Hospital Intensive Care, DaVita Dialysis Center and Hospice of Rutherford County for the care they provided not only to Peggie, but the family during this time.
