Pink Ladies Cancer Support Group

Those who are facing or have faced a breast cancer diagnosis are not alone.

The "Pink Ladies" is more than just a support group - it is made up of women who have survived various cancers, including breast cancer, who also volunteer their time to help others facing a cancer diagnosis. The group hosts monthly meetings as well as other events, and each year hold a fundraiser to give back to others who have cancer.

The Pink Ladies Cancer Support Group meets the first Monday of the month at 5 p.m. at Rutherford Regional's Cancer Resource Center.

Rutherford Regional's Cancer Resource Center also offers prosthetics, wigs and hats for patients as well as educational materials, videos and Internet access. Mastectomy fittings, provided by Smith's Drug of Forest City, are done by appointment. A registered nurse is available to help with questions; all services are provided free to cancer patients in the community.

The Cancer Resource Center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. For more information, call 828-245-4596.
