Rachel Bailey McKinney, 79, of Rutherfordton, passed away on May 30, 2019.

Rachel was born in Rutherfordton on February 12, 1940. She was the daughter of the late Henry Bailey and Una Bridges Bailey. In addition to her parents, she also preceded in death by her sister Emogene Bailey Hamrick, and brother Bobby Bailey and his wife Eleanor. Rachel lived in Rutherfordton and Ellenboro the majority of her life. She was a talented seamstress who continued to sew up until her death. She loved shopping, going out to eat with friends, talking on the telephone to her family and especially enjoyed word search. She will be remembered as a passionate woman who loved her family, her friends, and especially loved her grand dogs (Roxie, Louie, Bullet, and Daisy). She leaves us with precious memories, which will be cherished always. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Ellenboro.

Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl Walker and husband Tommy of Rutherfordton; two sons, Ricky McKinney and wife Melissa, Randy McKinney and wife Christina, all of Rutherfordton. Also surviving are her sister, Sally Mann and husband Jack of Gastonia; and her brothers, Palmer Bailey and wife Frances, Fred Bailey and wife Faye, all of Ellenboro. There are also six grandchildren, whom she loved dearly loved, and two great grandchildren. They were all the loves of her life. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at Bethel Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

The Padgett & King Mortuary is serving the family.
