Rafford “Rabbit” Childers, age 79, of Rutherfordton, passed away Friday, March 2, 2012.
Services will be announced at a later date.
Rafford was born October 13, 1932 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Paul B. Childers and Bertha McEntire Childers.
He served in the US Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. Rafford was an avid sports fan who enjoyed Atlanta Braves baseball and North Carolina Tar Heels basketball. He was a Methodist.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Huntley and three brothers, Donnie Childers, Jerry Childers and Dean Childers.
Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Rutherford County, POB 336, Forest City, NC or to Caroleen United Methodist Church, POB 187, Caroleen, NC 28019.
