Ramona Smith Carlton, 84, of Forest City, passed away Friday, April 12, 2019.

A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late O.M. Smith, Sr. and Margaret Lois Moss Smith. Ramona was a substance abuse counselor having worked for Green Street Center and later retired from Rutherford County Mental Health. She was a graduate of RS Central High School and a member of Florence Baptist Church, Forest City.

Survivors include her son, Allen Carlton III of Forest City; daughters, Alicia Henderson (David) of Hendersonville, NC, Karen C. Park (Greg) of Forest City, and Teri C. Whisnant of Forest City; a brother, David Smith of Sumter, SC; a sister, Deanna McJunkins of Texarkana, Arkansas; ten grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Cindy Melton Carlton, son-in-law, Kim Whisnant and brothers, O.M. Smith, Jr. and Michael Ray Smith.

A memorial service was held in the Padgett & King Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans, VA Reg Office- Federal Bldg, 251 N. Main St., Room 151, Winston-Salem, NC 27101-3914.

The Padgett & King Mortuary is serving the family.
