When Wendy Shumaker decided to move to Rutherford County, as she looked at property one question came to mind: Where could she put her garden.

Being a farmer wasn't something Shumaker set out to do, nor was publishing her own cookbook. But the former construction industry worker has found that both provide a therapeutic outlet.

An event that began in 2003 with a group of just eight women has now grown into one that serves hundreds.

The 13th Annual Sister Chicks for Christ of Rutherford County is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 28, at 6 p.m. at The Foundation Performing Arts & Conference Center on the campus of Isothermal Community College.

This past week, Rutherford County went 1-2, pending East Rutherford's delayed outcome with Kings Mountain. So let's recap what was week four of high school football and talk about a couple of other things outside of that.
