Born Ruth Reese in 1929 and married her beloved David L. Johnson in 1947. She was a wonderful 94 years young residing in Palm Harbor, Florida and formerly from Caroleen, NC. She was called to heaven October 10, 2023.

Joy Gillespie went to Heaven on Sunday, October 15, 2023 where she was greeted by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and was reunited with the love of her life and husband of 70 years, Bailey. Joy stepped away from nursing school in order for them to be married.

The winner of the Best In Show award at the recent Celebration of the Arts moved to Rutherford County about four years ago after she and her family experienced the beauty of the Blue Ridge Parkway while touring the area from their home in New York City.
