Regina (Smitty) Fisher, a joyful soul passed away on October 27, 2015.

Regina was 53, She loved God, family, and devoted her personal and professional life to helping others, including her work at the YMCA and most recently Johnson C. Smith University. Such was her exuberance, Regina was the kind of person you'd hear before you saw coming and always, you'd smile at her arrival.

Regina was born and raised in Spindale, NC, the daughter of Jimmy and Virginia Duffy. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communication from UNC-Chapel Hill, a Master of Arts degree in Intergenerational Studies from Wheelock College in Boston, and a Certificate in Gerontology from Boston University. Armed with all that education, she built a career around helping people.

Regina is survived by her parents, Jimmy and Virginia Duffy, of Spindale; her husband, Ronald Sr.; three children - Brooke, Ronald Jr. and his wife, Norika, and Lacy; brother Darren Duffy and his wife, Pamela, of Portsmouth, VA and sister Sherry Milteer and her husband, Michael, of Suffolk, VA. She is also survived by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Service was held at Matthews United Methodist Church, 801 S. Trade Street, Matthews, NC 28105, led by the family's pastor and friend, Dr. Percival T. Reeves and cousin, Dr. Felicia LaBoy. Instead of flowers, a gift in her honor can be made to the Youth Ministry at Sanctuary Charlotte, United Methodist Church, 11301 Granite St., Charlotte, NC 28273.
