The staff of radio station WCAB in Rutherfordton hosted a retirement reception last week for station owner Jim Bishop. Bishop purchased the station from founders Charles Melton and Bud Sparks and began operating the station on August 1, 1984. He plans to retire when final approval of the sale is received from the Federal Communications Commission. Fowler Media of Charleston, SC will become the new owner.
