Reverend Johnny Max Bridges, age 87 of Bostic, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2019.

Johnny was born August 29, 1932 in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Walter m. and Wilma Bailey Bridges.

Reverend Bridges was called to the Gospel Ministry in Concord Baptist Church and was a member of Long Branch Road Baptist Church. He has served many congregations in both North and South Carolina over fifty years of ministry. He retired from the pastorate of New Beginnings Baptist Church. He also worked for many years for Forest City Paint and Supply Company.

His brothers, Reverend A. C. Bridges and William C. "Bill" Bridges preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Betty Lou Bridges of the home, a son, Max Bridges and wife Wanda of Ellenboro, two daughters, Susan Guffey of Ellenboro, Wanda Bridges Overhulser of Bostic. There are also 7 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Concord Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
