RHI Legacy Foundation Supports Kidsenses' Factory Expansion Project

KidSenses Factory October 2022.

The RHI Legacy Foundation recently awarded a $75,000 grant to help complete The FACTORY-A Place to Meet and Make in 2023!

The FACTORY, KidSenses Children's Interactive Museum, and the Discovery Garden will comprise a 27,000 square foot campus. This complex will be a flagship family destination for western North Carolina, educating our children while generating revenue for our community and spawning new growth.

"We are so very grateful to the RHI Legacy Foundation for their past and ongoing support of this visionary project. Their passion for promoting the health and wellbeing of our children is inspirational. Their encouragement and contributions are vital to our success." said Willard Whitson, KidSenses' Executive Director.

"KidSenses will continue to implement programs that emphasize the connection between good nutrition and health in their Food Studio that will be located in the new facility. We are pleased to be one of the financial supporters of The FACTORY that expands this important, healthy work", commented Jill Miracle, RHI Legacy Foundation's community impact director.

"The FACTORY will provide exciting state of the art learning zones that help our youth cross the threshold into maturity. A community's greatest return on investment is healthy, productive children - children who are confident and enthusiastic about the future, a future they will both inherit and create. The Factory will not only serve our current demographic, but is being developed to engage youth eleven and older, many of whom are at risk. Increasingly, jobs in our region reflect a STEAM-based economy, and THE FACTORY will help our youth acquire the knowledge and develop the skills and attitudes necessary to succeed in this future work environment. Our goal is to help our youth learn the value of collaboration, the need to innovate, and the courage to tackle big issues. We want to aid them in becoming healthy, knowledgeable, and empowered citizens." said Whitson.

KidSenses Children's Interactive Museum is located at 172 North Main Street in Historic Downtown Rutherfordton. For information about the museum, and for more information about the Museum and donating to the FACTORY expansion, visit www.kidsenses.org or www.factorymuseum.org.
