Richard Charles "Ricky" Curtis, age 52

Richard Charles "Ricky" Curtis, age 52 of Forest City passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2021.

Ricky, as he was known was born on November 5, 1968 in Rutherford County. Ricky was a dedicated firefighter having served for many years as a firefighter and EMT for Hudlow Fire and Rescue as well as serving as Assistant Chief for the former Volunteer Lifesaving Crew in Rutherfordton.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Dale Curtis. Survivors include his father and stepmother, Ray and Marlene Curtis of Forest City, his mother, Rose Lee Waters of Lancaster, SC, his sons, Jason Curtis and wife Katey of Ellenboro, Joseph Curtis of the home, and daughter, Victoria Curtis of Lake Lure, his brothers, Jimmy Curtis and wife Debra, Larry Curtis and wife Lisa, and Randy Curtis and wife Kathy all of Forest City, his sisters, Luann Curtis Talbert and husband Robert of Inman, SC, and Cindy Toms of Rutherfordton. He also has one granddaughter.

A memorial service was held at the Mount Vernon Baptist Church.

Interment with Firefighter Honors followed in the church cemetery accorded by the Rutherford County Firefighters Honor Guard.
