Robbie L. Conner, age 80, went to heaven on, Thursday, July 24, 2014.

He was a native of Rutherford County and a long time resident of the Gilkey community. He was the son of the late James and Raye Conner. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Logan, three brothers, Hicks, Wade, and Floyd Conner, and three sisters, Pearl Bailey, Faye Marlowe, and Gladys Padgett.Robbie enjoyed working as a farmer and sawmiller for over 65 years. He loved the outdoors and spent free time hunting, fishing, and gardening. Robbie was caring and devoted to his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Nannie P. Conner, two sons, Warren Conner and wife Laura, Michael Conner and wife Sallie, three daughters, Sheila McCurry, Rita Stroud and husband Dewey, Amy Lancaster and Husband Judge, twelve grandchildren, Michelle Crotts, Jessica Upton, Jennifer Conner, Whitney Moody, Dustin McCurry, Dillon Conner, Taylor Stroud, J.P. Conner, Sarah McCurry, Conner Stroud, Lucy Logan, Larsyn Lancaster, and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Montford Cove Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Whitlow and Rev. Jerry Campbell, and Reverend Tom Runyon officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, Post Office Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
