Robert Oliver "Bobby" McDaniel, age 82 passed away Sunday, February 5, 2017.

Bobby was a lifelong resident of Ellenboro and was born July 20, 1934 to his parents, the late William Van McDaniel and Fola Caroline Wilson McDaniel. He was a farmer and co-owner of the Colfax Gin in Ellenboro which has been operated by his family for many years. Bobby was a graduate of Ellenboro High School Class of 1952 and served as an MP in the United States Army at Sandia Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He also attended Philadelphia Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Sammy McDaniel and a sister, Caroline McDaniel Jones.

Survivors include his brother, Joe McDaniel and wife Betty of Ellenboro, a sister, Mary McDaniel Lewis of Ellenboro, two nieces, Susan Jones of Morganton, and Amy Miller and husband Cameron of Nebo, as well as two great-nephews, Evan and Ethan Miller.

Funeral services were held in The Padgett and King Chapel with Reverend Ralph Dale and Reverend Michael Sepaugh officiating. Interment followed at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Ellenboro with military honors accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
