ROC Broad River Fall Sweep
Dana Bradley
On Saturday, September 28, ROC members and others from the community came together for the Rutherford Outdoor Coalition Broad River Fall Sweep river clean-up. Thanks to their efforts,1,180 pounds of trash and 46 tires were removed from the river. Sections 2, 3, 4, and 6 of the Broad River were cleaned and ROC would like to thank everyone involved for their help. ROC holds these clean-ups twice a year and the next one will be in May of next year. Many of those volunteering were ROC river stewards. ROC river stewards are community members that have adopted a section of the river, float that section regularly, and report any major trash or blockages they see to ROC. They also help with tree removal and clean-ups on the river. We appreciate all the time and energy these volunteers put into keeping the river safe and beautiful for everyone. For info about becoming a river steward or other ways to get involved, contact Callia Johnson at trails@rutherfordoutdoor.org or call 828-351-3235.
