Ruth Toney Newton, age 94

Ruth Toney Newton, age 94 of the Sunshine Community passed away Saturday, March 14, 2020.

Born November 1, 1926, she was the oldest of seven children of the Late Yates and Lona McFarland Toney.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-seven years, Alvin Lee Newton in 2015, two sisters, Doris Toney Horton and Margaret Toney Jonas, as well as a brother, Forrest Yates Toney. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Alan Hill, a grandson, Cory Hill and Ashley, all of Sunshine; two sisters, Nell Toney Earley of Forest City and Barbara Toney Toms of Shelby; a brother, Hubert Toney of Kings Mountain.

Funeral services were held at The Padgett & King Chapel. A private interment was held in the Mount Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.
