Sammie Lynn Blanton, age 78 of Ellenboro died Sunday, October 12, 2025.

Sam was born in Rutherford County on March 9, 1947, and was the son of the late Carl and Docia Patterson Blanton. He was the last surviving sibling of their eleven children.

He was a graduate of East Rutherford High School and a member of Liberty Baptist Church. Sam also served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam war.

Survivors include his wife, Liz C. Blanton, his son, Rick "Moto" Blanton and wife Joy of Ellenboro, his daughters, Sharon Dobbins and husband Greg of Spindale, and Marlena Dunkle and husband Donnie of Harris, eight grandchildren and as well as a number of great-grandchildren.

A memorial visitation was held October 18 at Liberty Baptist Church. Military honors were accorded at the church at the conclusion of visitation.
