Sgt. Robert (Bob) Quick

Sgt. Robert (Bob) Quick, age 85 of Forest City, passed away Monday, March 26. 2012. 

A native of Gaston County, he was the son of the late Hollis and Virginia Quick. Robert was a US Air Force veteran, serving in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He was a member of Southern Baptist Church, Rutherford County Honor Guard, and D.A.V. Chapter 25. Bob loved the Lord and his country. He also loved his family, church family, and friends. He enjoyed teaching ballroom dancing and playing pool with his friends at the Senior Center. After retiring from the Military, Bob was a supervisor at Fiber Industries and security guard at Torrington.

He is survived by his wife, Grace Hamrick Quick of the home; two stepsons, Ricky Edney and wife Jeanna of Bostic and Bobby Edney and wife Terri of Forest City; grandson Sgt. Mark Smith and wife Angela of Louisiana; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers and sister, Stanley, Hartwell, J, and Ruth.

Funeral services were held at Southern Baptist Church. Military Honors were provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southern Baptist Church Family Life Center, 140 Church Street, Rutherfordton, NC 28139; Rutherford County Senior Center, Callahan Koone Road, Spindale, NC 28160; The Rutherford County Honor Guard, 564 Terry Road, Ellenboro, NC 28040, or Hospice of Rutherford County, POB 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
