Spread the Word to End the Word Day

Last month Chase Middle School celebrated National Spread the Word to End the Word Day, a day designated to bring awareness to how hurtful words, especially the "r" word, can be to individuals with intellectual disabilities. The school celebrated this special day with an entire week of various activities. Many students and staff members wore Unified Champions shirts, signed the pledge banner promising to use respectful words instead of hurtful ones, and took part in a week-long competition between grade levels to see which grade could build the longest paper chain - links were available for $0.25 a piece. 7th grade took the trophy with over 200 links, and Unified Champions raised $146.75 for this great cause!
