Sylvia Downey, 77

Sylvia Downey, 77 of Rutherfordton passed away on June 4, 2019.

Sylvia was born in Rutherford County and worked as a seamstress at Doncaster. She was a beloved member of Second Baptist Church in Rutherfordton. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Buford and Marybell Vickers, and her husband, Kenneth Downey, brother, Millard Vickers and sister Peggy Weeks.

Left to cherish her memory is her sisters Sandra Hughes (Steve), and Mary Grace Waters (Larry). Also her nieces and nephews, Vickie Abernathy, Ricky Weeks, Crystal Costner, Dwayne Waters, Shannon Colpa, Tony Vickers, Kathy Westbrooke and Debbie Webb. Sylvia loved her great nieces and nephew, Kaitlin, Lea, and Derick. She is also survived by brother in laws Russel Downey, Rupert Weeks and a sister in law Betty Norville.

Services were held at Second Baptist Church in Rutherfordton. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, PO Box 336 Forest City, NC 28043 or 2^nd Baptist Church, 191 Green Street, Rutherfordton, NC 28139.
