Tina Mae Whisnant (January 2, 1957 - March 2, 2023) passed away after a sudden and intense illness. Daughter of the late Buren C Whisnant and Lilian D Whisnant, she is survived by sister Beth Whisnant Thomerson and husband Gary, of Auburn, NH, brother Jay Whisnant of Shelby, and numerous cousins in the US, France, and Greece, and many family and friends.

She earned a B.A. in English from the University of Tennessee.

Tina offered dog training classes, starting in 1984. She also began visiting local health organizations and schools with therapy dogs in that same year.

Per her wishes, there were no formal services.

In lieu of flowers, her surviving family invites donations in her honor to Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, NC, or to support Crisis Response dogs, or to any charity of your choice.
