Vaughn T. Houser, age 82, of Mooresboro, passed away Friday, November 14, 2025.

Vaughn was born March 5, 1943 in Cleveland County to the late Yates Wiseman Houser and Lorena Newton Houser. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Vaughn was an electrician and retired from Duke Energy after many years of service. He was known as a Christian man who loved the Lord and his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, John Horton and a brother, Joe Houser.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 20 years, Hazel Ann Houser; daughter, Ashley Horton-Hill (Baxter) and son, Josh Houser all of Mooresboro; siblings, Wayne Houser, Mary Ann Ramsey, Lance Houser (Linda), Judy Ruppe, Mike Houser (Janet) and Ken Houser (LaDonna); grandchildren, Gracie Houser, Zeke Houser, Lilliana Self (Dylan), Sumter Horton, Gunner Horton, Slade Horton, Avalyn Horton, Huxley Horton and a great granddaughter, Adahlee Self.

A celebration of Vaughn's life was held November 17 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. Robbie Hensley and Rev. Kevin Hamrick officiating.
