Walter Garlan Hardin, age 88, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Friday, March 24,

2017, at Hospice House of Rutherford County.

He was a native of Rutherford County and the son of the late C.B. Hardin and

the late Josie Hardin. He was a member of Piney Knob Baptist Church and was the former owner of C.B. Hardin and Son Grocery Store. He loved Nascar, gardening, doing anything mechanical and was an avid hunter and fisherman but above all was a loving father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife Louise "Sis" Hardin, two brothers; Roy Lee and C.B. Jr. and one sister Viola Humphries.

He is survived by one daughter: Karen LaBreche and husband Thomas of Rutherfordton. Two sons: Daryl Hardin and wife Sherry of Mill Spring, NC Dennis Hardin and wife Donna of Harrisburg, NC. Three sisters: Alma Haynes, Virginia Lawter, Willie Boone. Six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren

The funeral service was held at Piney Knob Baptist Church. Interment followed. Memorials may be made to Piney Knob Baptist Church Cemetery Fund; 1534 Piney Knob Rd. Rutherfordton, NC 28139.
