Mr. Walter Irvan Jones, 75, of Mooresboro, NC, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2010. Services were held at Prospect Baptist Church. Burial followed in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Memory and Connie Lucy Scruggs Jones.
He is survived by his wife Tiny Rogers Jones; 1 son, Bobby Shires and wife Brenda of Rutherfordton; 3 daughters, Ruth Maxwell and husband Charles, and Lois Shires, all of Ellenboro, and Martha McGinnis and husband Calvin of Rutherfordton; 3 brothers, Herman Jones, Jr. and wife Lillie, and Barry Jones and wife Frances, all of Cliffside, and Raford Jones of Raleigh; 1 sister, Ruth Jones Ruppe and husband John of Mooresboro; 2 brother-in-laws, Maynard Humphries and Bobby Martin of Gaffney, SC; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
