Wayne Newton Houser, 87, of Mooresboro, NC passed away January 6, 2026.

Wayne was born April 18, 1938 in Cleveland County to the late Yates and Lorena Houser. Wayne was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He was an example of Christian leadership, serving as a Gideon for over 40 years.

Wayne had a successful career, specializing in process control engineering, working in facilities worldwide, including extended assignments in Alaska and Holland. Outside of his profession, he loved camping, teaching family to water ski and snow ski, seining in the river, and contributing to the church as an RA leader, Sunday School teacher, choir member, and Deacon. His favorite pastime was traveling with his wife Peggy, of 68 years.

In addition to his parents, Wayne is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Putnam Houser and brothers, Joe and Vaughn Houser.

He is survived by his siblings- Marianne Ramsey, Judy Marsh Ruppe, Lance Houser, Mike Houser, and Kenny Houser- as well as his children: Garry (Maxine), Bruce (Cindy), Pam (Al), and Susie, 11 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.

The funeral service was held January 11 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Mooresboro with Rev. Rob Hefner officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church: 1301 Mt. Pleasant Church Rd., Mooresboro, NC 28114.

Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside is served the family.
