The Western Carolina University Pride of the Mountains Marching Band will serve as the lead band for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Thursday, which will be broadcast live on NBC at 9 a.m. During its time in front of the cameras, the band will perform “I’ve Seen the Lights Go Out on Broadway” by Billy Joel. While marching, the band will play other selections from its 2014 halftime production “Street Beatz,” a musical travelogue of the Big Apple. Students from Rutherford County who will be taking part are: Matthew Bradley, Kent Dyer and Cierra Alley, all of Forest City; Allison Luckado of Mooresboro; and Alex Larsen and Ashley Roach, both of Rutherfordton.
