Wilbur Gold Martin, 92, of Ellenboro, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2012.
A native of Rutherford County, he was born on March 22, 1919, a son of the late Clarence Martin and Lillie Brooks Martin. He was a United States Army Veteran having served in World War II. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church where served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Medford Martin; four daughters, JoAnn Knepp and husband Russ of Hickory, Vickie Redwine and husband Tom of Asheville, Rita Stanley and husband Mike of Forest City and Polly Stanberry and husband Cliff of Candler; one sister, Ollie McGuirt of Bostic; ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Corinth Baptist Church.
