A student from Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy is first runner up the American Legion High School Oratorical Contest sponsored by Post 82 in Shelby. Jonathan Shauff competed against participants from Crest High, Shelby High, and Pinnacle Classical Academy. Only one point separated him from the winner, Alexis Aldinger of Crest. Jonathan received a silver lapel pin and all contestants received a cash prize.
