Floyd "Junior" Tate, Jr., age 85

Floyd "Junior" Tate, Jr., age 85, of Ellenboro, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023.

Junior was born December 21, 1937 in Rutherford County to the late Floyd Tate, Sr. and Lucy Gertrude Ledbetter Tate. He worked as the manager of Spindale Laundry and Dry Cleaners for over 40 years. Junior was a member of Alexander United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Floyd Tate III; sister, Doris Tate and brothers, Leon "Red" Tate and Clifford Tate.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 65 years, Joyce Ann Toney Tate; daughters, Anna Coffey (Joe) of Forest City and Chris Holland of Ellenboro; son, Mark Tate (Kathy) of Ellenboro; brother, Carl Tate (Melina) of the Sunshine Community; 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.

The funeral service was held February 20, 2023 at Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Dr. James Powell and Rev. Anna Coffey officiating.
