Ken Dellinger and his wife, Diane, are the host and hostess of the big party. It’s their Christmas gift.
His name is Ken Dellinger who, together with his wife Diane, hosted his second annual Christmas Party for the handicapped and people of special needs. They have also hosted Valentine, Easter, Halloween parties as well as cookouts for their favorite people.

It all started because they wanted to do something to honor their daughter Kelly. Kelly was a special needs child and now, because of her, others are benefiting.

Ken and his wife were in the rest home business but went in another direction in January 2007 when they converted to 5600C program for the mentally challenged and special needs people. Ken now heads KD Support Services in Forest City.  Their slogan and mission is “Working towards a brighter tomorrow.”

The best part of the parties is that they pay for it all. It is their gift to “these special people”. Free food, entertainment, and at Christmas, gifts for everyone. There is always a lot of music and in addition to Santa, there was even a sighting of Elvis.Bill Cochran, the Elvis impersonator and his wife Ola Mae, donate their talents and time to the big event.

Should you meet Ken and his wife you will find them very enthusiastic and pleased to “give back to the community.” As Ken proudly stated, “We put smiles on peoples faces.” Indeed he does!

Rutherford County should be proud to have home town folks like the Dellingers who give of themselves constantly throughout the year. Together with the Church Of The Exceptional in Henrietta which is celebrating their 37th year, Rutherford County can proudly proclaim that they take care of the special needs people. The Church Of The Exceptional ministers to the Physically and Mentally Challenged in this immediate area of Western North Carolina. They proudly proclaim that: “We are honored and thrilled to be given the opportunity to minister, worship and to grow with such a wonderful segment of our community.”

Aren’t you glad you live in Rutherford County?
