Members of the Rutherford County Woodworkers organization delivered over 300 hand-made toys to the Marine Corps League CPL Chris S. Ebert Detachment 1221 in Forest City last week for the Toys for Tots program.

The woodworkers group has approximately 30 members, some of whom contributed toys for the first time this year. Sam Adams, woodworkers president, said the group had been donating toys for children at Christmas for many years and began giving them to the Marine Corps League two years ago.

Jon Carlisle, Rutherford County Toys for Tots Coordinator, said this contribution, which was about double the number of last year, was awesome and touched his heart. He thanked the woodworkers for the effort and energy that went into the toys that will share love at Christmas. He said the donations will "give kids hope that life does get better."

Last year Toys for Tots shared toys with almost 1150 children from 450 families. Collection boxes for individual contributions are now being placed in Rutherford County businesses and public locations.
