Town of Rutherfordton transfers ladder truck to Spindale Fire Department

Officials from the towns of Rutherfordton and Spindale met at Spindale Town Hall October 5 to complete the transfer of the 2012 HME 78-foot ladder truck to the Spindale Fire Department.

Spindale Mayor Nancy Walker thanked the Town of Rutherfordton for the transfer of the truck. She stressed the important role ladder trucks played in fighting the fire at the former Farmers Hardware building in Downtown Forest City recently.

Rutherfordton Mayor Jimmy Dancy spoke of the great relationship between the two towns. He said the towns working together can accomplish a lot that benefits all citizens.

Doug Barrick, Rutherfordton Town Manager, said he was excited about the future of the two towns. The cooperation makes the communities safer and better places to live, work and play.

It will take a couple of months for Spindale firefighters to fully equip the truck and put it in service according to Spindale Fire Chief Jamie Guillermo.
