The Grahamtown Team Summer Camp brought 15 children to Forest City for gardening, culinary skills, working with the Isothermal Robotics team and other fun events.

"The kids have all rated the event with 10s," said Kisha McDowell, executive director/program director of the Grahamtown Team.

During the week-long camp board members Wilfred McDowell and Selena McEntyre helped to navigate the group in various classes.

Campers met one day in the community garden with Hannah Bundy from the Cooperative Extension Services in Spindale.

The Master Gardeners discussed soil, water gauge, micro plants, and what the acronym PLANTS (Place, Light, Air, Nutrients, Time & Soil) during classes with the campers.

They tried zucchini, chocolate cake, orange marmalade and veggies for the food packets they made with Davis' assistance.

The Isothermal Robotics Team assisted the children with their own creations on Thursday. The team received a grant from Facebook to work with the community and they chose to develop the partnership with Grahamtown Team's summer camp.

"The Isothermal Robotics team (Omega Bites) has been so great with the kids," said McDowell. "They have been so friendly and supportive of the kids."

The Lead Coordinator of the team told McDowell the camp experience was also important to each of the team members.

"Several of the kids will be signing up for the robotics team this coming fall and our partnership does not stop here but it will continue," McDowell added.

On Friday all the campers enjoy a "fun day" with water games, pizza party, agriculture lessons and some campers made their own salad boats.

"This has been the best summer camp since we started four years ago and I think we will need a bigger place if it keeps growing," McDowell concluded.
