Alaina Bergtson and Madison Doyle receive Lake Lure Lions' scholarships

Alaina Bergtson and Madison Doyle, graduating seniors at Lake Lure Classical Academy, were recognized by the Lake Lure Lions Club, for their academic performance, community service and future career plans by being awarded scholarships at the schools they are planning to attend at the Lions May meeting.

Alaina Bergston has applied to and has been accepted into Coastal Carolina University. Her academic record at the Lake Lure Classical Academy was excellent. The three recommendations given were each outstanding. Alaina is one of the top graduating seniors, at her school. She plans to study Business Management with a minor in International Business. Alaina is passionate about the environment and has been active in joining organizations with conservation projects.

Madison Doyle has applied to and has been accepted into the University of New Haven where she plans to study Criminal Justice with the goal to eventually join the FBI as a forensic analyst. Her academic record at the Lake Lure Classical Academy was well above average and her activities were impressive. Her strong passion to serve by working as an FBI agent was developed in childhood.

The Lake Lure Lions annually offer deserving graduating seniors the ability to apply for a scholarship as they pursue their continued education after high school. The Lions Scholarship Committee consists of Lions Tracy Lanham, Monica Faherty and Kristen Boyd. Chair Tracy said that the Lake Lure Lions Club is pleased to serve the community by supporting students in their future endeavors.

Lake Lure Lions Club President, Fay Kobland, said she was impressed by the students achievements, applications, references and vision for their career path post high school. "It is obvious that these young students have strong visions about what they want to do in adulthood and the path to achieve it. I am so proud that the Lions were able to provide the opportunity to share their plans. The awarding of scholarships is one of my favorite Lion activities each year."
